Autumn update on building work and plans for a Nursery

Easton Community Nursery – by Raised in Bristol
We’re pleased to formally announce that from January 2018 Easton will have a brand new children’s nursery, to be based here at Easton Community Centre (in the Annex). The Easton Community Nursery will provide a huge benefit to our community in Easton, and will also have a positive impact on the wider city of Bristol too.
The Easton Community Nursery is for children aged one to four (1-4) years old and will be open five days a week, from 8am until 6pm all the year round.
To register your interest in having a place for your child in the nursery, please send an email to info@raisedinbristol.org.uk and you will be kept informed.
Did you know that the Annex at ECC was originally built as a nursery? Some of you may have sent your children there or may have even attended yourself! It’s fantastic news for the community that we can bring this much needed service back. We’re currently refurbishing the space and it will look fantastic as well as be a great place for our children to play, learn and get ready for school.
Whilst there are already other nurseries in Easton, we know that the increase in the allocation of ‘free’ nursery hours to working parents means that the waiting lists have grown. We’re also welcoming lots of new families to Easton and so the Easton Community Nursery is a much needed addition.
The organisation running the nursery, Raised in Bristol, is a values led, social enterprise business. ECC is very pleased to work in partnership with it. The wider community of Easton will also benefit because Raised in Bristol is going to donate a profit share to Easton Community Centre.
Two of the directors of Raised in Bristol were part of the Southville Centre team that reinvigorated the Centre by re-opening its children’s nursery. It achieved an Ofsted Outstanding judgment and still brings lots of positive changes to the local area in terms of additional community services as well as supporting families and their children to have a really positive start and to feel more connected to their community.
It’s Raised in Bristol’s ambition to work with other communities to achieve the same thing. The Easton Community Nursery is the first of its kind and is already generating lots of interest in Bristol and beyond.
More information about the nursery will be available soon (Raised in Bristol is currently building its website) but in the meantime is keen to talk to you about its services. Raised in Bristol will be arranging an open day/evening later in the autumn and will also set up an Easton Parents’ Forum once the nursery is up and running.
Raised in Bristol’s directors are Anne Malindine, Sasha Lines and Kirsten van den Hout.  If you would like to find out more about Raised in Bristol, please get in touch with them via info@raisedinbristol.org.uk
